Spite Colorado Springs Concert reviews
Choices…
This ballet was not groundbreaking, despite the incredibly short duration or the high amount of children dancers displayed.
The orchestra was exceptional; however, when a ballet company puts more effort into the music than the stage dressing, you're met with often deafening notes of boxes and props slamming across the stage.
All these things culminate into a performance that I thought didn't warrant the price, one that was comparable to the Boston Ballet, without delivering the same caliber of performance.
I’ve danced in well over 100 performances of the Nutcracker and seen more than 50 while traveling across the United States to visit and see friends perform in Nashville, LA, New York, and Boston.
The Ballerina dancing as the Sugar Plum Fairy was absolutely unparalleled throughout this show, my single reprieve from this quite blunt review.
Despite the ill-timed ballerinas who were not at all light on their feet and were very much seen and heard, who were essentially expected to stand and look cute, she, in her entirety, was worthy of the applause she received at the performance's conclusion.
